FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov appointed IA Ashot Vardapetyan from Armenia as the chief arbiter of the FIDE World Championship Match Anand – Carlsen to be held on November 6-28, 2013 in Chennai, India.

Vardapetyan was also the chief arbiter of the World Championship Match Anand – Gelfand (Moscow, 2012).
